![]() Let us put things in perspective. It is a movie based on a book written by a rather creative Indian Diplomat. It is directed by a Brit who in my opinion has more than done justice to a brilliant story. The problem is in the perception. Do you believe that India is a poor country with a few rich people in it or a rich country with many poor? If you believe the later is true then you are probably delusional and will surely find Slumdog Millionaire a nasty piece of work. You might even say "how dare a foreigner come to our shores and pimp our poverty to the world for personal gain and gratification!?!". To all those people I say – If you want to get insulted please do so when ten, twenty year olds, hold an Indian city of twenty million people to ransom for three days. Do get insulted when our politicians fly the flag of corruption with impunity across our land. Please do also get insulted when so called technocrats of India Inc. turn out be technocons. If you want to get insulted it is very easy to do so in present day India for a million other things that actually matter to the average Indian. Save yourself from getting insulted about works of fictional art. |
